Executive Role: Business Development, HEAD

Capital Empowerment Group Ltd · Accra

Full-time Telecommunications 20,000 - 40,000 Apply by Aug 28, 2026

About the role

The Head of Business Development will serve as a strategic commercial executive responsible for driving top-line revenue growth across our Telecommunications, IT, and Solar Energy business units. This high-impact leadership role sits at the confluence of digital connectivity, enterprise technology, and clean energy transition.

The ideal candidate should be an aggressive, visionary leader with deep industry networks across Telecom Operators (MNOs), Tower Companies (TowerCos), enterprise accounts, and government bodies. You will lead cross-functional commercial teams to package and sell complex, multi-disciplinary deals—ranging from telecom site solarization (green power) and enterprise connectivity to large-scale solar EPC/PPAs and smart IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Growth & Market Expansion

  1. Design and execute overarching commercial strategies to penetrate key target segments across the telecom, corporate enterprise, industrial, and public sectors.
  2. Capitalize on cross-sector synergies—such as telecom tower greening (hybrid/solar storage for cell sites), data center renewable powering, smart grid deployments, and managed IT/connectivity services.
  3. Establish short- and long-term revenue targets, market-entry playbooks, and strategic positioning frameworks across all three verticals.

2. High-Value Deal Structuring & Execution

  1. Lead high-stakes commercial negotiations for major accounts, including long-term PPAs, ESCo contracts for telecom sites, large EPC agreements, and enterprise IT/telecom managed services contracts.
  2. Oversee responses to complex high-value RFIs, RFPs, and global tenders, ensuring competitive pricing, technical compliance, and risk mitigation.
  3. Champion financial structuring efforts (CAPEX vs. OPEX/Lease models, ROI, and total cost of ownership reductions for telecom and enterprise clients).

3. Executive Stakeholder & Partnership Management

  1. Cultivate C-level relationships with key decision-makers at MNOs, TowerCos, regulatory agencies, technology OEMs, and financial/investment partners.
  2. Negotiate strategic alliances, joint ventures, and reseller/vendor agreements with global telecom equipment manufacturers, cloud providers, and solar technology leaders.
  3. Act as the primary external commercial brand ambassador at major industry conferences and trade expos.

4. Commercial Leadership & Team Governance

  1. Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Business Development Managers, Account Executives, and Pre-Sales Engineers.
  2. Work closely with Technical Architecture, Telecom Engineering, and Solar Project Management teams to ensure feasibility, profitability, and flawless handover of won accounts.
  3. Establish rigorous sales pipeline metrics, CRM governance, and quarterly revenue forecasting standards for executive board reporting.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

Education & Experience

  1. Education: Business Administration or related field (MBA highly preferred).
  2. Experience: 10–15+ years of progressive commercial and B2B sales leadership experience, with a proven track record of directly driving growth in Telecommunications (site infrastructure, power-to-tower, enterprise connectivity) combined with Solar/Renewable Energy and Enterprise IT.

Core Technical & Strategic Competencies

  1. Telecom Sector Mastery: Deep knowledge of telecom network operator operations, TowerCo business models, cell site power architecture, ESCo business models, fiber rollout, and network management systems.
  2. Energy & IT Integration: Expert understanding of commercial solar (C&I, microgrids, BESS, PPAs) and enterprise IT frameworks (cloud, IoT, software integration, data centers).
  3. Financial & Legal Fluency: Advanced knowledge of project finance, financial modeling, legal contracts, and regulatory frameworks governing telecom and energy industries.

Executive Leadership Skills

  1. Proven ability to open doors, negotiate, and close multi-million-dollar, multi-year contracts with C-suite executives.
  2. Outstanding strategic vision coupled with a hands-on execution style.
  3. Strong leadership presence with a track record of building and managing high-yield sales teams.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Top-Line Revenue Growth: Hitting and exceeding overall company revenue targets across Telecom, IT, and Solar divisions.
  2. Major Account Acquisition: Securing multi-year master service agreements (MSAs) with top-tier Telecom Operators, TowerCos, and Enterprise clients.
  3. Profitability & Margins: Ensuring high gross margin retention on closed EPC, PPA, IT, and Telecom service contracts.
